Listen to this quick clip where I discuss how emotional repression can be seen as a more physiological experience, and therefore, be treated as such. In client sessions, we spend a lot of time targeting the low hanging fruit that go into a person’s wellbeing. Things like:
Daily movement
Nutrition
Sleep
Intentional exercise
Stress management
And much more
And while these may seem so obvious — and arguably simple — to many people, each one of those “fruit” actually has an exceptional amount of nuance when applied to a person.
This is why we struggle! Because we either forget or don’t know there IS nuance. And finding what is best for YOU at any given time isn’t always clear or easy to execute. If it were, we’d all be so healthy, at peace, and wildly successful in all the things.
In the case of repressed emotions, if we shifted our mindset to see them as having a physical and neuro/physiological impact, then we can also treat it via a similar lens.
If and where it plays a role in enhancing your wellbeing is fully dependent on your story, your body, and your goals.
Take a listen!
